We like a lot to go out. Last night we arrived in this magnificent place which friends recommended to us. We enjoyed a delightful evening there with high-qulity dishes and a courteous stuff and an impressive cuisine. We put this restaurant in our list and we shall no doubt go again very soon. We warmly recommend.

It was good. The place is super small so making a reservation is a must in order to ensure seating in a timely fashion. They have a fried wonton with AMERICAN cheese that is gross, but the sushi is incredibly fresh and the service was decent. I would visit again.

This location of Kanpai serves food with lightening speed. I mean, it's absurd how fast food is served. I received my sushi within two minutes, my roll within three, and my appetizer less than a minute thereafter. It was almost as though the restaurant had something planted in my brain. The portion of the appetizer seemed slightly smaller, but maybe that's why it was served so quickly. This restaurant is a fraction of the size of the Sepulveda location, but it's got a much nicer vibe.

Finest sushi on the way to LAX. Peter & the gang are top notch when it comes to recommending the right dish. The menu is highly varied, from small plates to dinner sets, hibachi items and even noodle soups. I recommend reservations for parties of 4+ or go during off peak hours. Try the Phoenix Moon or the Oyster Shooter (add spice) are sure to hit the spot. They have curry salt which goes well with Tempura items. Have a back-up dish if you are seeking ramen as they often run out. When going with date, pass on the sake carafe and order a bottle instead. Some things have changed but over the years Kanpai is still my favorite Sushi spot. If you see me, I'll order you a beer if you like this post.

I take my family to this place quite often! This is my favorite restaurant to pass a nice evening. I go there regularly. The cooking is of high quality, the team is welcoming and the payment is decent. I enjoy eating in this place to have a good lunch.

We love hanging out. Yesterday we visited this fine restaurant which friends recommended to us. We spent a delightful time there with superb food and an efficient crew and a distinguished chief cook. We added this venue in our list and we will surely go again soon. Highly recommended.

Stellar... Food is excellent and quick every time. Fish is very fresh. I usually don't wait more than 10 minutes for a table, except weekends. Staff is always pleasent and on top of my orders. The salmon flight and yellowtail flights are an excellent way to try different variations of each fish. Also the truffle Toro is a must, but a bit heavy. If you like Ikura, you gotta try the Ikura Sushi. Very different (and special) here. There's also a spicy lobster and shrimp stir fry called the G something... can never remember it but I love it. Goes well with a cold beer. But that's true of the entire menu.

Love this restaurant really much. Premium sushi and sashimi, acceptable price. Lots of different choice and great Japanese food experience. Highly recommend. I will visit Kanpai when I visit Los Angeles. It just 5 mins drive from LAX. Can have a try

I eat here a lot since I work right next to it. I must say the service is always good and they keep the place well organized all the time. Pricing is reasonable and they serve generous portions.

One of the best sushi experience I have had. The chef's deluxe combo is definitely a fun choice because it's a mystery, what will arrive is left up to the chef to make whatever they deem delicious.

One of the best sushi restaurant around. Only the best fish, great quality with beautiful flavors. Can get very pricey as they have a very extensive menu ranking from caviar and truffle plates to ramen (after 10pm) and more affordable appetizers. Young crowd. Late dinner.

the spicy yuzu ramen was amazing, a very refreshing yet satisfying taste that both serve your ramen crave and give you refreshing after taste. One of the best chashu I've had among 20+ ramen places I've been too

Great ramen and fresh sushi and poke bowls!

The sushi was so good, we went back the next day. By far the best sushi I've ever eaten in the US
Tammy Liu
Very popular, large menu, from sashimi, sushi, tempura to ramen. The sushi were pretty good, especially the Santa Barbara uni, but 10 pieces for $65 was quite expensive. The tempura and salads were good, a bit more American styled though. Service was very good!
Monica Rodriguez-Finston
Service excellent. Sushi amazing. Thank you all for a pleasant experience yesterday afternoon.

We always stop by when in LA! Great Ramen and sushi. We love blue crab hand roll, spicy tuna, salmon, rainbow roll, etc etc My kids love coming here and trying to use chopsticks (but they offer forks if needed). Friendly quick staff and delicious fresh fish makes this our favorite sushi spot!

Good food/sushi, fair service/prices. Although it was pricey, if the service was a little better, then 5 star's would've been given.

Nice warm ramen soup for late-night meal.

I came in the afternoon and only ate Hand rolls (4 of them) since they have them for $5 after 3:00 pm, they were really delicious. Would come back to have a more formal sushi meal. But so far it was a great experience.

What needs to be improved is a sense of cleanliness. Improve the quality of fresh fish. The service was not too bad.

Top notch, recommended. Huge menu, lots of dishes. Not many vegetarian dishes but sides will fill you up. Excellent service and great atmosphere.

Good Japanese restaurant. Good quality. Average quality/price ratio.

This place has the best blue crab hand roll anywhere. They always have top choice Toro and other bellies. I like to start by buying the sushi chef's a pitcher of beer. (Thats allowed and encouraged). This karma will come back to you i promise... The shrimp shumai is 2nd to none. The eel is also the best. My wife loves the spicy tuna. Overall my favorite sushi in LA. Thats over sugarfish and other Beverly hills places and for half the price.... Pro tip. This place has an amazing coupon on Perks at Work, but full price is still a bargain...

This is the second time I come here and I love it.My first stop when I get out of LAX (it's really close). The menu is very diversified and so far everything I've had was amazing. The service is great and if you feel chatty, sitting at the sushi bar is a great experience.

I came here for the first time. Place is small but cozy. Good ambiance. They have excellent customer service but the sushi is overpriced. The quality is also not the best for the price. I've had better sushi for less. The slices of Salmon were thin and I'm paying $7.50 for two pieces. At least give me a pretty thick slice of fish. The yellow tail was good but $8.00 for two pieces is a little crazy. Forget about ordering blue fin tuna. It was over double the price. Most of the roles were about $20 each. There were some for under $15 but these were your typical California roles etc. Which usually go between $8-$10 an order at other restaurants. I'm sure their prices are catered to tourists since they are located close to the airport but honestly I say drive a little further for better sushi. Don't think I'll return.

Pretty busy for a Wednesday night, but that's a good sign 😊. They accommodated me at the sushi bar and service/food were great.Quick and efficient!

Not only a local favorite, but the best Sushi restaurant in the area. Famous for their Ramen that you can only get past 10PM, and you can’t take the leftovers home. This is the original Kanpai. The second Kanpai on Jefferson opened a couple years ago. They serve ramen all day, but it’s just not the same. The sushi chefs are classically trained. The waitresses and waiters have been serving at this location for a long time. If it’s dinnertime on the weekends, it’s best to make a reservation. The restaurant is small, seating about 10 at the sushi bar, and around 25 at the tables. They have daily specials - always ask for their opinions. Most of the best tasting dishes have come from being curious and open to suggestions. My favorite is their Ikura- salmon eggs that are served in a sauce spoon.Nice selection of private reserve sakes available. Street parking out front is best. The parking lot that sometimes charges is often full.

This restaurant always satisfies my craving for Japanese food. Food is excellent in taste. Usually I would do supper here as normal meal times have a long wait time. Seating is limited in this restaurant.

I found Kanpai after an evening of drinking beer at the bar down the street, and have been saving it for special occasions ever since. It is by far the best sushi and ramen I've had in LA. They serve spicy ramen after 10pm until they close at 1am, so that's when I recommend going. The sushi masters are truly skilled and have excellent recommendations. If you go I, recommend a selection of Sake (get the bamboo - excellent size for 2), Sashimi, and Spicy Ramen. The Sake complements the Sashimi, and Kanpai has an excellent selection. I prefer the bar seating at this location.

Great late night sushi spot with ramen! Chawanmushi is delicious, lots of options with toro and uni! Service was great and they have late night happy hour from 10pm til close which is around 1am! So glad I found this place and will definitely be back haha. I want to try their other sushi and more of their food options which is a lot!

Still a good experience, but not as special as previous visits. The "omakase" seemed to be pre planned as opposed to what was really fresh and the chef making unique selections for the customers. My guess is that if someone else let them make their choice they would have received the exact same thing as we did. The selection of fish, which was still vast and unique, seemed to be almost exactly the same as last time.
Bahar Banan Sitzes
My favorite sushi restaurant outside of Japan! The best selection of fish, fresh, daily, from all over the world. Some of the most unique selection of fish you can find, including some you can only find in Japan.
Lynne Mason
Didn't get to sit at the bar to experience the legendary omakase but everything ordered was delicious and the service was good. Make sure sure you get there right when they open or you'll have to wait quite a bit to be seated.
